Fees
Fees and reimbursement
Fees are shown here so that you know them before you book, not at the end of the first session.
The cost of therapy is a legitimate question, and it often comes before all the others. If cost is an obstacle for you, say so during the first phone call: there are schemes and low-cost services I can point you towards.

Payment
Paying for a session
Payment is made at the end of each session: card, cheque or cash.
You receive a receipt (note d’honoraires) after every session, without having to ask. This is the document your top-up health insurer (mutuelle) will ask for if it covers some or all of your sessions. Keep it even if you are not sure you are entitled: many policies include an allowance their members are unaware of. If you have international health insurance, check with your insurer which documents it requires.
Cancellation
Cancelling, rescheduling and your right to withdraw
An appointment cancelled or moved at least 48 hours in advance is not charged. You do not have to give a reason: a simple message is enough.
With less notice, the slot can no longer be offered to someone else, so the price of the session remains payable as a cancellation fee. This rule is not a penalty. It exists because session time is reserved for one person only, and because the regularity of the framework is part of the work itself.
If you booked remotely — online or by phone — you also have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of booking. During those 14 days, you can cancel at no cost and without giving a reason, even less than 48 hours before the session: the cancellation rule only applies once that period has passed. A session that has already taken place within that period, at your request, remains payable. A phone call or a message is enough to withdraw; if you booked online, the “Cancel or withdraw from the appointment here” link in your confirmation email also lets you do it in two clicks.
Life brings the unexpected, and I am not rigid about it: a sudden illness, an accident or a serious impediment are entirely understandable. Let me know, and we will talk about it.
Public scheme
The Mon soutien psy scheme
Mon soutien psy is a French public scheme under which the Assurance Maladie (national health insurance) covers sessions with a psychologist. It is open to anyone aged 3 and over who is registered with the French national health insurance and experiencing mild to moderate psychological distress.
It gives access to 12 sessions per calendar year — an assessment session, then up to eleven follow-up sessions — at a set fee of €50 per session, with no extra charges allowed. The Assurance Maladie reimburses 60% (€30), and your top-up insurer the rest, depending on your policy. The count resets on 1 January.
Access is direct: since 2024, no prescription or referral from a doctor has been needed. You book as you would for any other session.
Since 1 October 2026, the law provides for the Assurance Maladie share to be paid directly to the psychologist (tiers payant), so that you do not have to pay it upfront. The practical arrangements are still being put in place: please ask when you book whether it already applies to you. Otherwise, you pay at the practice and the Assurance Maladie reimburses its share. Please bring your Carte Vitale or your health insurance certificate (attestation de droits).
One condition to be aware of: the first, assessment session must take place in person. Later sessions can take place at the practice or, if we agree on it together, by video.
The scheme does not cover every situation. It is aimed at mild to moderate distress and excludes, in particular, situations requiring specialist care, as well as couples sessions. If your situation falls outside it, we will discuss this during the first conversation and I will explain the options available.
Insurance
Cover from top-up insurers (mutuelles)
Outside Mon soutien psy, sessions with a psychologist in private practice are not reimbursed by the Assurance Maladie. Many top-up health insurers, however, offer an annual allowance for sessions with a psychologist.
Terms vary widely from one policy to another: some cover a number of sessions, others an annual amount, others a percentage per session up to a cap. The safest approach is to contact your insurer and ask exactly what your policy provides for sessions with a psychologist, quoting the RPPS number shown on your receipt.
I do not deal with insurers on your behalf and do not bill them directly: the receipt issued after each session is the only document you need to send them.
In short
Frequently asked questions
Are sessions reimbursed by the French national health insurance?
Outside the Mon soutien psy scheme, sessions with a psychologist in private practice are not covered by the Assurance Maladie. Many top-up insurers (mutuelles), however, offer an annual allowance for sessions with a psychologist. You receive a receipt (note d’honoraires) after every session to send to them.
Do I need a referral to book?
No. You can book directly, including under Mon soutien psy, which has allowed direct access since 2024. A letter from your doctor is not needed, although it can be useful if you would like your care to be coordinated.
How can I pay for a session?
At the end of each session: card, cheque or cash. You always receive a receipt (note d’honoraires), whether or not you claim it from your insurer.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
An appointment cancelled at least 48 hours in advance is never charged, whatever the reason, and you do not have to explain. With less notice, the slot can no longer be offered to someone else and the session remains payable. If you booked online or by phone, you can also withdraw at no cost within 14 days of booking. If something serious comes up, we talk about it.
Is a video session cheaper?
No, the fee is the same: the length and the work are identical. Only the first, assessment session under Mon soutien psy must take place in person.
